The ITFFL 2026 draft is two thirds done: eight rounds complete, 96 picks in the books, six rounds to go. And the story of the night so far is a quarterback run that everybody saw coming and nobody wanted to be first to.
Nine quarterbacks, eight of them in a stampede
Through four full rounds this league had drafted exactly one quarterback. One. Everyone else sat on their hands looking enormously pleased with themselves about it, the way you do when you are certain the room is about to make a mistake.
Then somebody blinked. Two quarterbacks went in the fifth, three in the sixth, three more in the seventh. Nine are gone. The position went from an act of principled restraint to a scramble in about forty minutes, which is the most ITFFL thing that could possibly have happened.
Three teams still do not have one. They are now shopping in an aisle that nine other people have already cleared out.
A defense. In the eighth round.
One of those three quarterback-less teams is End Of Story, who looked squarely at that situation and used a pick on the Los Angeles Rams defense. It is the only defense off the board. It came in round eight. Six rounds remain.
In fairness, this is a league that has historically treated early kickers and defenses as a personality trait, so one defense at pick 87 is arguably progress. It is just an odd hill to pick when the quarterback shelf is visibly emptying.
The tight end saga
Five tight ends have gone. The first two went early, in the second and third, and then the position went quiet.
This is where it gets good. Any Given Sontag spent the fourth round loudly furious that tight ends were flying off the board, at a moment when exactly two had been drafted. Two. He then let two more go past him and finally addressed the position in the eighth round by taking a Cleveland Browns tight end. Four rounds of outrage, and that was the destination.
The receiver hoarders
Three teams have drafted five wide receivers apiece. ITFFLGOAT has Amon-Ra St. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Marvin Harrison, Courtland Sutton and Josh Downs and appears to be assembling a 7-on-7 team. Fighting Armadillos matched him receiver for receiver while somehow also owning both Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry, which is either brilliant or a fantasy team designed by committee.
The third is Brancho Country, who has five receivers, three running backs, and — say it with me — no quarterback. Eight picks, zero people to throw to them.
Elsewhere, purplepigs drafted three receivers, then three running backs, then a quarterback, in tidy little blocks, like a man filling in a spreadsheet from left to right. Football Enthusiasts and aal3 have four running backs each and are presumably planning to run the ball on every down of the season.
Nobody has taken a kicker
Zero kickers through 96 picks. In this league that is not a statistic, it is a personal growth milestone. Somebody will crack in round nine and the rest of us will never let them forget it.
Six rounds left. The quarterback stragglers have to move, seven teams still need a tight end, and the kicker streak is living on borrowed time.
Full draft analysis and post-draft power rankings land later tonight. In the meantime, the ITFFL all-time record book is a useful reminder of how little draft-night confidence has historically been worth around here, and you can set your own lineup over on the picks page.
