NFL Week 4 2026 Pick'em Preview: The Locks, The Traps, and Our Model's Bold Call Pick'em

Key takeaways

  • Safe favorites: Vikings, Ravens, Bills and Chiefs are the four chalk picks that should not keep you up at night.
  • Trap games: Cowboys off the Brazil short week and Dolphins on the road catching double digits are the two to walk away from.
  • Prisco's spice: Pete Prisco is calling the Browns as +2.5 home dogs over the Steelers as his upset special of the week.
  • Our model's lock: Minnesota at home hits 77% confidence — the top single-game read on our v2-oracle board this week.
  • Our model's alert: The road Rams at Philadelphia flashes a contrarian buy signal that directly contradicts most of the expert room.

It is Wednesday of Week 4. Kickoff is tomorrow night, byes do not start until next week, and you still have all 16 games on the board to sort through before the Thursday whistle. If you sleepwalked through the first three weeks — or you woke up 1-2 in your pool and want to rip it back — this is the week to plant a flag. Let's cut through it.

Who's hot, who's cold heading into Week 4

Three weeks in, the shape of the season is starting to show. Not fully — anyone telling you the standings are locked after three games is lying — but enough that the market is doing something different this week than it did in the opener. Vegas is putting real numbers on the board.

Trending up. Buffalo laid a Week 3 egg and the market's response was to give the Bills 6.5 points at home against the Patriots. That is how you tell who Vegas still believes in. Baltimore is a two-touchdown home favorite over the Titans. Minnesota is a 10.5-point favorite over Miami. Both are messages. Tampa Bay and Kansas City are walking into Week 4 undefeated, and so are the Raiders, San Francisco and Indianapolis — which is why the Colts in London against Washington is not the coin flip you might expect. Indy is the road favorite.

Trending down. New England is on the wrong side of a 6.5-point line for a reason: Drake Maye has looked overmatched. Tennessee is an 11.5-point road dog for the same reason on the other side. Miami is on the road catching double digits from a Vikings defense that is being coordinated by the guy who used to coach the Dolphins — a matchup Pete Prisco flagged specifically. And Dallas just got back from Brazil last week, which historically wrecks the following Sunday.

GameLineRead
TEN at BALBAL -11.5Biggest spread on the board. Ravens are pounding again.
MIA at MINMIN -10.5Vikings home; Flores familiarity vs. a compromised Miami offense.
LAC at SEASEA -7Chargers' offense stalling; Seattle bounces back at home.
NE at BUFBUF -6.5Market's vote of confidence in Buffalo after a rough week.
KC at LVKC -4Two undefeated teams; Chiefs still get the number on the road.

What the experts are saying

Pete Prisco at CBS is the one to read this week because he is calling for chaos. His upset special is Browns 21-20 over Steelers on Thursday night — Cleveland has quietly played Pittsburgh well at home and he thinks that trend holds. That is a real +2.5 dog on the board for anyone building around it.

The rest of Prisco's Sunday slate leans chalk on the games that should be chalk. He has Bills 30-17 over the Patriots (Maye is not the answer yet), Ravens 33-14 over the Titans (Derrick Henry gets to run wild again, this time in purple), Vikings 27-10 over the Dolphins, and Chiefs 29-24 over the Raiders in the undefeated-on-undefeated showdown. He is also on the Packers 27-21 over Tampa Bay, citing Bucs QB uncertainty. Not a lot of daylight on the top of the card.

Where Prisco picks against the crowd, he does it with conviction. Eagles 30-27 over the Rams is his call — he thinks Philly bounces back after a poor showing and Los Angeles wilts on the road trip east. Sportsnaut's panel disagrees and has the Rams winning 23-20, citing Eagles pass-protection issues. Either way, that is a game where the expert room is genuinely split, and that is where you find edge.

When Pete Prisco and the market disagree on the same game, that is the one you spend an extra ten minutes on.

Trap alert: Cowboys at Texans is the schedule trap of the week. Dallas is coming off a grueling Brazil trip; Houston is at home, healthier, and finally getting Nico Collins back. Do not throw a survivor life on Dallas here just because Houston has been quiet.

Our model's corner

Our v2-oracle model ran all 16 Week 4 games this morning. Here is the reveal rule we follow: we do not dump the whole board into a blog post — that is what Pick Insights is for. What we will do here is show you the two calls the model wants us to talk about the loudest.

The lock: Vikings -10.5 vs. Dolphins (77% confidence)

This is the single highest read on our Week 4 board. Three tells stack in one direction: the market is on the same side (heavy steam money moved with the public toward Minnesota all week), the injury report cuts in Minnesota's favor, and Miami is asking a compromised offense to hang double digits on a Vikings defense being coordinated by the guy who used to run their own offense. The model priced all of that in and still comes out with a 3-in-4 read. That is a lock in Week 4 language, and it belongs on your top confidence slot.

The alert: Rams +3 at Eagles (59% confidence)

This is the contrarian one. 59% is not a hammer, but the reason it lands on this list is the mechanism: the line moved against the public. The crowd is on Philadelphia at home; the sharp money moved the number the other way. That kind of reverse line movement is one of the loudest signals in the market, and it is exactly what our model tunes for. Prisco has the Eagles 30-27; Sportsnaut has the Rams 23-20; the sharps are quietly with the Rams; our model agrees with the sharps. That is a lot of smoke for one game.

Confidence-points angle: Save your top slot for the Vikings. Use the Rams call in a survivor bracket only if you are trying to get separation — do not lead your card with a 59% read.

The rest of the model's board — where it stands on the Chiefs-Raiders undefeated showdown, whether it likes the Colts as road favorites in London against Washington, its verdict on the 49ers-Broncos NFC West primetime slot, and which side of Falcons-Saints it likes on Monday night — is on the Pick Insights page. Every game, every confidence number, updated as the lines move.

What to do with all of this before Thursday

Three-step play. First, lock in your chalk: Vikings, Ravens, Bills, Chiefs. Those are your safety layer, and if you are running a confidence pool they are your top four spots in some order. Second, decide on the Prisco-vs-market split games one at a time — Rams-Eagles is the one to burn cycles on this week. Third, if you have already burned your survivor lives and you are hunting for separation, that is where the Rams alert and the Browns Thursday upset special come into play.

For more of our own read, our Week 3 preview has the framework we used last week and how it held up, our Week 3 start/sit covered the fantasy angle on some of these same teams, and if you are looking for the season's biggest contrarian shout, our McCaffrey-bust case from earlier this month is still on the board. Lock your picks before Thursday night — and if you like calling upsets, well, that is literally the game.

Frequently asked questions

Who is the biggest favorite in NFL Week 4?
Baltimore is the biggest favorite at 11.5 points at home against Tennessee, followed by Minnesota at 10.5 at home vs. Miami. Both are chalk reads worth putting on your top confidence slots.
What is Pete Prisco's upset pick for Week 4?
Prisco's upset special of the week is the Cleveland Browns as 2.5-point home dogs beating the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-20 on Thursday night. He cites Cleveland's historically strong home showings against Pittsburgh as the reason to trust the underdog.
Are the Colts favored in the London game?
Yes. Indianapolis is the road favorite over Washington in the NFL's Week 4 London game — an unusual setup that reflects Indy's 3-0 start and injury issues on the Washington side. Road favorites are a mixed bet historically, so weigh it carefully in survivor pools.
Do NFL byes start in Week 4 or Week 5?
Byes start in Week 5. All 32 teams play in Week 4, giving you a full 16-game slate for pick'em, survivor and confidence pools.
